Swimming Part Two

Over the past two weeks NBC has been going swimming at QE11. We have been doing  to freestyle, back stroke, dolphin dive, doggie paddle, and floating. We went into the boat on Thursday and today we were in our pajamas’s and did activities in them. The pajama’s became really sticky and weird. It was fun going swimming and it was fun doing it with my friends.

Swimming 🥽

This past week NBC has been going to QE11 for school swimming lessons. We did a test at the start seeing how long you could swim and and how well you can swim. After we got into our groups we went to swim. I like swimming because I like learning new things. I don’t really like swimming because it always makes me so tired.

Hanmer Camp 2025

On 3rd of March the year 7 and 8’s went to Hanmer Springs for school camp.

Day 1: We arrived at school and went to the parent that was driving us to Hanmer. We drove to Hanmer and arrived at out camp sight. As soon as we arrived we got ready for a big walk.We went on the big walk on the first day that was around 2 hours. When we came back everyone was exhausted and cold because it started raining while we were on our walk. The parents made us hot chocolates when we came back and put the fire place on in the lounge area. At dinner time there were pies, mashed potato and pea’s for dinner.

Day 2: In the morning we woke up and went to the kitchen for breakfast. There were lots of different cereals for offer. After breakfast we got ready for an activity called Orienteering. We got a map with numbers on it and a piece of card and paper. We got into a group and found a parent to drive us to the forest where it was happening. We walked around the forest in the rain to find all the numbers. When we got back the fire place was on and Milo’s were being handed out. We got told the places of all the teams. In the afternoon Room 10 went mountain biking and room 9 went tree climbing. I went mountain biking. We rode around in the forest before we rode back after around an hour. For dinner there was nacho’s, sausages and left over pie for dinner

Day 3: We had breakfast and room 10 got ready for tree climbing while room 9 got ready for mountain biking. We got a safety briefing and then we got started. After an hour we finished. It was raining again so we got another Milo along with some fruit and a muesli bar. After we got out of our wet clothes we got ready to go home.

Jesus the Teacher.

The past few weeks we have been learning about what Jesus has taught us. We made a slide about either 5 virtues and 1 bible verse or 1 virtue and 5 bible versus. I chose kindness as my virtue.

I think Jesus taught us about virtues so that we can show them to one and other rather than be mean to everyone.

Have you learnt about Jesus teaching virtues?

Welcome to 2025

This year in 2025 lots of exciting things are going to be happening. This year the year 8’s are going on a trip to Wellington. The intermediates are also going to Hanmer Springs as their camp this year. The years 6’s from last year are now year 7’s and this year the year 8’s became senior leaders. I am excited about stepping up and being a special character leader. The year 8’s got their senior leader badges for their jobs.

Duffy Books

Today I got 2 duffy books. They are Street Valley Twins and Wings of Fire. I chose them because I really like similar books and I love graphic novels so they are perfect.  I really liked them both but my favourite is Street Valley Twins.

What is your favourite book series?

Have you ever read these?

Bob Bickerton

Today we had Bob Bickerton a person who plays old māori instruments. He played 20 instruments and they all sounded so cool! Some were also creepy but really cool. Most he made himself and some he was given. 3 instruments were actually made from animal bones and teeth. There was a whale jaw, a whale tooth and a bird bone from a wing.

Have you ever heard of Bob Bickerton?

Olympics comparison

For the past few weeks we have been learning about the Olympics history. We had to do multiple activity’s but my favourite was the comparison. We had to compare the Olympics in 1908 to 2020 Olympics.

Here is my comparison

Here are the videos we had to compare:

  1. London 1908
  2. Tokyo 2020

Have you ever done something like this?

Baking – Winter learning journey

Over the winter holidays I did the winter learning journey I did activity 2 which you need to make breakfast in bed for your parents. Instead of making breakfast for my parents I made lunch for them. I made banana chocolate chip muffins with chocolate icing.

Here are some photos of me baking:

Here is the link for the recipe. I made them muffins instead of a banana cake.
